uma stewart
Often described as authentic and honest, Uma carries that sensibility to each project and seeks to create spaces as unique as the environments around them and the individuals living in them. Uma adopts a worldly point of view and consistently turns to new trends in American design, classic English interiors, and India (her parents' birthplace) for inspiration.
Luxe Magazine has given Uma the esteemed Gold List designation—the only NJ interior designer to receive this honor. Redbook magazine defined Uma as a designer who can "design a home you'll love forever." Her work is both timeless and current, a quality her clients love best about the spaces she designs.
Before launching her design business, Uma worked as an acquisitions editor in book publishing and as a photo editor for a women’s fashion magazine. She studied design at Parsons and NYU, and has done Ph.D. work in communications and culture at the University of Illinois. Her broad intellectual background continues to inform her design work.
